Avoid laser-based hair-removal methods during summer. "The skin can hyperpigment if you use laser on it and go out in the sun," warns Cara DeCenso, a clinical aesthetician at Ajune Spa.

Once legs are smooth, "we recommend either microdermabrasion or glycolic acid to remove dead skin," says DeCenso. Microdermabrasion exfoliates by blowing aluminum oxide or sodium chloride crystals over the skin. "It's much stronger than your hands," she says.
